Poppy Joy is a fashion photographer based in Hampshire and Dorset. Currently she is a second year Commercial Photography student studying at the Arts University Bournemouth, where she is developing a distinctive style of photography bringing together her technical skills with a passion for storytelling. Poppy’s main focus is taking inspiration from books, plays, music and other creative mediums and reinterpreting them into unique fantasy narrative shoots. Through doing this she hopes to creates work that resonates with her audience.
One of the key parts of Poppy’s process is collaboration, where she works with a team of people to bring her visions to life. Ensuring wardrobe choices to lighting work harmoniously together is something that she is dedicated about achieving to make sure each story is unique and has its own style. Her attention to detail along with working with her models, allow Poppy to express her ideas in a creative manner that tell interesting stories.
Poppy’s background in textile design and dance also form a key part of her process. This allows her to understand in depth how every part of the shoot is working together. Because of this, movement is something that she likes to explore in her imagery to make each narrative dynamic and stand out to an audience.
